A Lebanese artist now living in Paris, Maria Hallab's is infused with influences from her travels, most notably the decade she has spent in Ghana, West Africa.

Life on the African continent has inspired and guided Mariam's "Noir" series that we are presenting here. On these acrylic on canvas pieces, the stark outline of her subjects contrasts with bursts of shimmering color, bringing to life different scenes and moods of African life.

Mariam has a Masters in Art History from the Sorbonne in Paris and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Lebanese University in Tripoli.

She has participated in several solo and group exhibitions throughout France, Ghana and Lebanon, and is the recipient of various awards.
